We're getting word from the West Coast that Steven Pineiro of Jacksonville and Clay Kreiner of Greenville have made the finals of the Amateur Vert Competition at the X Games. If you can get ESPN3 on the web, tune in just after 10 tonight (Eastern), because we're hearing that the Am Vert Finals will be featured.

We're skating the Dreamland park in Hammond LA. It's hot on the concrete. Trees ringing the park offer some shade, and there's a nice breeze.

Ian's checking out Insanity Skatepark in Madison AL near Huntsville. There's a concrete bowl much like the bowls at Duncan Creek. The coping's sticky, Most of the park is skate-lite over metal. The vert ramp is closed for maintenance. Strict helmet-and-pads requirement, including elbow pads. Five bucks an hour, etc. Open till 10 during the summer. Nearly deserted on this Monday evening at six. My guess is the place is busy in the late evenings, especially on weekends.
